The major difference our hockey school offers over all others is that the players attending will learn the basic skills and fundamentals associated with the game of hockey but taught with 4 major goals in mind:

Game Playing

Regardless of age or skill the ultimate aim is to play our Canadian game with passion and within the rules. Our sessions are designed to achieve excellent results, appreciation for the game and to operate at a high tempo with minimum down time on the ice. Teamwork and respect for your opponent and officials, motivation and leadership are all by-products of this well organized, disciplined and creative hockey school.

The following will be covered in the “Team Concept” portion of the camp. ( related to age and ability )

Team Skill Development

  • Passing/Timing Flow drills
  • Puck support
  • Offensive zone aggression, gaining body position, driving the net, puck support
  • Defensive body positioning, angling, body contact, puck support
  • Defense & Goalie as a unit (passing, communication, support)
  • Cycling high and low

Team Tactical Play

  • Forecheck and transition to offensive zone attack
  • Backcheck and defensive zone positioning
  • Neutral Zone transition
  • Special Teams, Power Play, Penalty Kill, Face Offs

 

Off Ice Training

(5 days – 1.5 hrs per day) = 6.5 hrs total

Physical and mental development are key elements to raising the skill levels of all participants. Our off-ice hockey training program is designed to assist players in developing their strengths and weaknesses in direct relation to on ice requirements.
Each day, depending on the age group, we will focus on the following:

  • Upper and lower body strengthening
  • Foot speed and agility with focus on balance
  • Core development and maximum range
  • Hand /eye co-ordination
  • Aerobics thru other sports
  • Game playing

These programs will enhance the player’s fitness levels and provide direction for continued conditioning, improved game competence and motivate their future outlook on hockey and personal development.
