Rising Stars (1999-2000) and (2001-2002)

Dates: August 11 - 16, 2008
Location
: Richmond Ice Centre, Richmond, BC

In Rising Stars there will be players of two different age groups with two levels of teaching. These children have already participated at some stage of the Tyke Hockey 1-4 and are wanting to develop the skills they have already been exposed to while learning a vast array of new skills to improve their game.

The desire to compete with their peers in the game situations and the overall nurturing of the athlete in each child will fullfill every child's (parents...ha, ha.) wish for a fun packed learning experience which is known to be second to none.

Initially the players are allocated by age but after the 1st day some re-allocation may occur so as to ensure peer levels and skill compatibility.

The sessions will include the following:

  • Forward and backwards skating techniques.
  • Agility, crossovers, rapid starts and stops.
  • Various skills of shooting depending on age levels.
  • Giving and receiving passes, forehand and backhand passing.
  • Stick handling and puck control.
  • The fun of competition and game playing.

When they are finished the week the players and parents will know that much has been learned and that the kids are well on their way to a great hockey season. They will carry with them a confidence that allows them to compete individually and in a team environment along with a better ability to relate with their future coaches.
